It can be very tricky to remove the inside knob or lever. As seen in the instructions, insert the pin and pull on the knob/lever to remove. But as some experience, it takes a little more effort than expected.
Look in the pin hole, you should be able to see a small metal piece that is the spring. This is what you have to depress to pull the knob/lever off. If you don't see it turn the knob slightly back and forth. You may get a better glimpse by doing so. You will know when the tool is in contact with the correct spot when you feel it spring slightly up and down as you apply pressure with the tool.
This is where it can be tricky. Appy pressure on the spring and pull on the knob/lever. As you pull, the tool starts to wedge in the hole. Keep pressure on the tool and the knob/lever will release. It does seem impossible, but we assure you it can be done.
To remove the outside keyed knob or lever, first insert the key and turn 1/4 turn. Insert the pin and pull on the knob/lever to remove.
If you are still having trouble, one suggestion might be to ask the Home Depot Pro Desk for assistance removing the knob/lever.
To remove the rose:
Gently push on the rose in the area cut out of the mounting plate with a flat head screw driver. This will allow the rose to pop off.
