Winches are designed to mount in the upright direction, installing the winch upside down would trap water in the protective solenoid cover and damage the solenoid, this type of mounting would void warranty. Modifying the solenoid cover and factory location would also void warranty.
Winches are not for overhead lifting, if this is why the need to mount the winch upside down.
