Step 1: Attach bracket on spring end of chain to head jamb, 18” from hinge side of side jamb. Note: Mount this bracket at approximately 45° on head jamb with chain facing hinges.
Step 2: Mount other bracket on top of door 19” from hinge edge of door in horizontal position with T-shape of bracket on hinge side. This allows 90° opening of door. If greater opening is desired, mount each bracket slightly closer to hinge edge of door. To allow full opening or removal of door, merely detach chain from bracket
Step 3: To attach hold-up spring, close door and hook spring to lowest hanging link. Attaches like a key to a key ring.
Step 4: Pull spring up toward hinge side of door and attach to head jamb with nail, about 3” from side jamb.
Note: If pilot holes are required use 1/8" drill bit for all pilot holes.
Wind chain helps to prevent damage to your door and door jamb but damaging winds can cause destruction that even our wind chain cannot prevent.
Q. Which screws are used on the door and which are used on the jamb?
A. Short screws are used to attach T-shaped bracket to door and longer screws are used to attach bracket on spring end of chain to head jamb.
Q. How do you attach the hold-up spring to the lowest hanging chain link?
A. The loop on the end of the hold-up spring is attached to the lowest hanging chain link by threading it on like attaching a key to a key ring.
Q. Can I install a V11 wind chain if my closer is mounted at the top of my storm door?
A. A closer mounted at the top of the storm door will interfere with installing a wind chain. Move closer to center or bottom of door to free space for V11 wind chain.
Q. If pilot hole is needed what size drill bit is used?
A. If a pilot hole is needed use 1/8" drill bit.
