UH4007, UH4008, UH4013 & UH4014 Heavy Duty Residential Door Closer

Control the traffic in/out of your space and automatically close door after every opening. Best suited for exterior residential door applications. This closer is a size 3. It has a 155 degree opening range and an adjustable closing speed. It can be mounted in a standard or top jamb position. It has a 3 hour UL fire rating and is ADA compliant.

Q: Why won't the door open after installation?

A: The door won't open if the arm isn't preloaded. Review step 4D, when the door is fully closed and the forearm is at a 90 degree angle to the door, this position creates pressure, which forces the door closed and is properly preloaded.

Q: Can I reduce the opening force?

 

A: This closer is a size 3 and the spring power is not adjustable. The only option would be to shorten the threaded half of the arm a little bit more...by doing this you are drawing the main arm away from center even more, reducing the latching area and force you experience in the area when first opening. If you shorten too much, you could bypass the latching speed all together. I would try a few rotations at a time and test.

How to determine which template to use

While standing on the side of the door you want to install the closer on, does your door pull toward you or do you push it to open?

If you pull the door toward you, then you would use the inward opening template.
