The Contemporary and Transitional levers use a 55-60 degree latch, and the 3865 Spring Latch is a 78 degree latch for knobs. The lever has spring cage hard stops that prevent rotation beyond 45 degrees leaving the latch bolt of a 78 degree latch protruding by about 1/8” at full retraction
