The Universal Hardware KIL (Key in Lever - but there is no key in lever) Passage Lever operates the latchbolt of the Universal Hardware Exit Device at all times. It features a tubular chassis to fit standard doors with a 2-3/4" backset and meets Grade 2 standards.
- Easy to install on wood or metal doors
- Fits 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" thick doors
- Fully reversible, right or left-hand doors
- Fixed 2-3/4" backset
- Clutching lever for vandal resistance
You may have experienced the torque it requires to use the key to retract the bolt on our current exit device. With a clutched lever option, the key was still required to retract the bolt. The lever only served to help pull the door open. We changed to a non-clutched design in which turning the key unlocks the lever, and then the lever can be used to retract the bolt. Much more user friendly we think.
